How to print paper bracelets for events

A good paper bracelet can make all the difference in your event. A nice memory of the big day that the attendees spent, with a personalized design that makes it unique. In addition, these bracelets help to keep control of who the attendees of a party or concert are and are very easy to get. In Logiscenter we explain how to make paper bracelets for events in a simple way, with the help of a thermal printer and the right material to enjoy all the advantages they present.

Bracelets, mistakenly known as "paper"," are actually made with a material called "tyvek". This is so resistant that it is quite difficult to break and, in addition, allows you to customize them to your liking.

Printers for paper bracelets

Standard label printers can print paper wristbands, but a bracelet printer offers several advantages and a lower cost per print. They are suitable for applications that need to stamp bracelets on a day-to-day basis, such as concert halls or event promoters. The printer is essential to be able to make your own bracelets.

These printers can have several types of media, such as those that are on a roll or those that have a cartridge that simply falls into place to be printing continuously. They also offer a higher resolution standard, resulting in a clear and accurate impression of the design.

As for the personalization of these bracelets, it is possible to include the name or logo of the event or organization, as well as the date of realization, a slogan, or a hashtag next to social networks. You can also have a barcode to identify the wristbands during accesses and/or departures.

We can opt for two thermal technologies when printing. On the one hand, we have direct thermal printers, which apply heat on a heat-sensitive paper to print the bracelets. However, there are also thermal transfer printers, extended in the use of polypropylene bracelets, since their operation consists of a ribbon adhering to the label by the thermal printhead.

Types of bracelets

Among the different types of bracelets, paper bracelets are the cheapest. They are single-use, although they can withstand legible and unharmed for at least a couple of days. There are many different colors, and the most frequent type of closure is with an adhesive, which prevents different people from using them.

Paper or tyvek bracelets are very difficult to break and deform thanks to the material with which they are made: high-density polyethylene fibers spun with flash, a very resistant synthetic component. In addition to paper bracelets, there are other alternatives such as PVC or vinyl (water resistant), or cotton (higher quality). However, these have a higher cost, and some are not as easy to customize.

There are many other features that differentiate bracelets from each other, such as their texture, closing mechanism, durability, or width.

Uses and access with paper bracelets

Paper bracelets have a main purpose, and that is to control the access of attendees. Thanks to them, workers who are at the entrance will be able to quickly check who passes, since they will be able to recognize them just by seeing the bracelet. They represent an improvement over, for example, the typical stamps stamped in the hands of the public of the discotheques, since they do not run the risk of disappearing, or the paper tickets, because teaching them continuously is uncomfortable.

These bracelets can be used in many types of events, such as concerts and festivals -especially in the latter, since the exits and entrances of the public are more common-, parties, amusement parks or other events that need a control of the attendees. They also serve to differentiate the areas that can be accessed by those present within the enclosure (both the public and staff members).

All these controls can be reinforced by including a barcode in the design. Through a software that generates them and an adequate reader, those in charge of reviewing the inputs and outputs can avoid fraudulent use of the bracelets. Another option is to opt for RFID wristbands that, in addition to reviewing access, also allows you to implement it as a contactless form of payment.
